RICHARDSON, Texas –– The American Southwest Conference Council of Presidents announced members of the 2009-10 Executive Council at the group's annual meeting in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday (May 28). Dr. Joe Aguillard, president of Louisiana College, will serve as president, Ann M. Svennungsen, president of Texas Lutheran University, as vice-president; and Dr. Tom Cedel, president of Concordia University Texas, as past president.

AUSTIN, Texas—Corey Holton, formerly an assistant women’s soccer coach at NCAA Division III Greensboro College in Greensboro, NC, has been named as the new Concordia University Texas head women’s soccer coach.

Concordia University Texas softball program was awarded the Student Athlete Advisory Committee Sportsmanship Award for the Spring of 2009. This is the third SAAC Sportsmanship Award that has been awarded to Concordia University Texas this season.

AUSTIN—Concordia University Texas received a $1.5-million donation for the school’s new baseball field. Given by donors who wish to remain anonymous, this is the largest single gift in the history of Concordia University Texas.

Concordia University Texas Baseball was honored Wednesday with five players listed as All-Conference selections. After leading the nation in strikeouts for most of the season junior, Michael Johnson was awarded ASC West Co-Pitcher of the Year, Co-Newcomer of the year and All-West Divison First Team. Senior Matt Coburn was awarded ASC West Division Second Team while seniors Chad Thielepape and Stephen Szkotak each were honored with ASC West Honorable Mention. The Concordia Baseball team finished the year 22-18 overall and 11-10 in ASC action.

After finishing the year 20-20 overall and 11-13 in ASC action the Concordia softball program was honored with five student-athletes picking up All-Conference honors. Senior Karen Smart was awarded All-West Division First Team after a stellar senior campaign. Lauren Vansickle, Lyssa Yates, Jessica Rattan and Carranda Goree were each awarded All-West Division Second Team honors.

AUSTIN, Texas—After 10 successful seasons with the Concordia University Texas baseball program, all-time wins leader Mike Gardner will transition from coaching to accept a full-time teaching position with the Kinesiology Department at Concordia. Gardner will begin his new position as an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology on July 1, 2009.

Brownwood, Texas- The Concordia University Texas softball program split the Saturday afternoon double header against Howard-Payne University (29-9 17-7 ASC). Concordia (20-20, 11-13 ASC) won the first game 4-3 and lost game two of the American Southwest Conference series 3-5.

BROWNWOOD, Texas – Concordia University Texas softball dropped two American Southwest Conference (ASC) games to Howard Payne University on Friday afternoon at Lady Jacket Field. In game one the Tornados fell 5-1 before falling 3-2 in the second game of the doubleheader.
