SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Russell Jablonowski led the Concordia University Texas track and field team at its inaugural meet on Saturday at the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinal Track & Field Invitational held at UIW Tom Benson Stadium.  Jablonowski won the 110 meter hurdles and finished second in the triple jump.

RICHARDSON, TX – Celebrated annually on April 6 since 1987, National STUDENT-Athlete Day is America’s day to celebrate outstanding student-athletes who have achieved excellence in academics and athletics while having made significant contributions to the community. It is also a time to recognize those parents, teachers, coaches and school systems which make it possible for young people to find the balance between academics and athletics. By participating, programs are created, students are rewarded and everyone comes together to recognize the importance of student-athletes as role models for the entire community.

AUSTIN, Texas—On Feb. 24, 2009, Concordia University Texas Athletic Director, Dan Huntley, announced the addition of men’s and women’s track and field to the University’s Athletic Program. Concordia track and field will begin competing in the 2009 - 2010 academic year. Current sport sponsorships include men’s and women’s cross country, basketball, golf, soccer and baseball, as well as women’s softball and volleyball.

Concordia University Athletics has joined forces with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for the last two years through volunteer efforts with Light the Night, a unique evening walk which is held each year to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. The Tornados have expanded efforts with a $728.34 donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
