Under the direction of Head Coach
Alex Aldaco, the Concordia University Texas Tornados have recruited a talented and diverse group of coaching staff for the inaugural 2010 outdoor track and field season.
"I'm excited to launch this track program and start pursuing my goals for the 2010 season," Aldaco said. “My goals are to mentor the tremendous coaching staff that we've put together and to continue to recruit student-athletes that are motivated to be champions. The potential for this program is endless."
Joe Gadison, a 17-year coaching veteran, will join our staff as the coach for sprints, hurdles and the high jump. Coach Gadison has coached many successful Central Texas-athletes at the club level.
"Having
Joe Gadison on our staff is a true asset to the track and f ield program," Aldaco said. “He is a veteran of the trade in every sense of the word and has a great eye for recruiting talent. Gadison is one of the best sprint and hurdles coaches in the state. What the athletes he has coached at the club level have accomplished is very impressive."
To launch her coaching career, Ychlindria Spears, will coach sprints and jumps for the Tornados. Coach Spears is the most decorated high school athlete in Texas and was part of multiple national championship teams while competing at The University of Texas at Austin.
“I am thrilled to have such a young, talented and promising coach on the staff,” Aldaco said. “During her career, Spears won just about every award imaginable when it comes to triple and long jumps. But what is more impressive than any award is the enthusiasm and knowledge that she will bring to our student-athletes.”
Also in her first year of coaching, Coach Brooke Stewart brings great collegiate experience from competing for The University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University and will lead the distance running part of the program.
“Brooke comes to us as a highly decorated high school and college athlete,” Aldaco said. “She qualified for Footlocker Nationals two times while in high school competing at A&M Consolidated. Her talent is rare, and the desire and talent she had as an athlete will shine through in her coaching at Concordia.”
Coaching the throws will be Coach Patrick Maynard. Coach Maynard previously mentored high profile throwing athletes in the Pacific Northwest.
“Patrick has the ability to communicate clearly and with great ease, which is vital to such technical events as the throws,” Aldaco said. His coaching style encourages and excites athletes - lifting their performances to a higher level.”
