Former Tornado Stephen Szkotak Signs with the Big Bend Cowboys

Austin, TX- Former Concordia University Texas baseball player, #Stephen Szkotak# signed to play professional baseball with the Big Bend Cowboys, a member of the Continental Baseball League. The Big Bend Cowboys franchise is based in Alpine, TX and will host their home games at Kokernot Field, also the home of Sul Ross State baseball.

The Continental Baseball League (CBL) announced the addition of the Big Bend Cowboys franchise in April 2009. They joined the Alexandria Aces, Dallas Aviators, Bay Area Toros, Texarkana Gunslingers and the South Louisiana Pipeliners for the third season of CBL Baseball.

The CBL plays a 60-game regular season followed by a post-season championship playoff series. The regular season began on May 14, 2009.

Szkotak, a four year letterman, was named Academic All- Conference three times, ASC West Co-Freshman of the Year, and ASC West Honorable Mention four times during his collegiate career at Concordia Texas. During his senior campaign, Szkotak played in 28 games while starting 17 of them and averaged .293 with 22 hits. On the mound he finished with 7 saves and 28 strikeouts 

Szkotak graduated this May with a degree in Kinesiology.
