AUSTIN, Texas -- Concordia University Texas basketball student-athletes Kerrie Carter and Reza Farahani have been named members of the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team.

Carter, a first-year graduate student, boasts a 4.0 GPA in Concordia's masters program in education.  Carter was a first team selection to the academic all-district team in the college division.  She was one of four American Southwest Conference women's basketball players to be honored, but the only player to be named to the first team.  Carter was an academic all-conference selection last season.  On the court, Carter leads the Tornados in scoring (13.8) and rebounding (8.3).

Farahani, a senior academically, holds a 3.74 GPA in accounting at Concordia.  He is currently the president of Concordia's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was named academic all-conference last season.  On the court, Farahani ranks second on the team in scoring (10.6).  Farahani joins two other ASC men's basketball players on the prestigious team.

Carter and Farahani join CTX men's soccer player Brian Friend as the only three student-athletes from Concordia to be named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team.  Friend received the honor during the Fall semester.

Overall, only 15 basketball student-athletes from District 6 (all NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA colleges in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas) were named academic all-district at the college level. Carter and Farahani will now go on the national ballots and vie for academic All-America honors.
