RICHARDSON, Texas -- Three Concordia University Texas women's basketball players were named to spots on the American Southwest Conference All-Conference Teams, it was announced on Tuesday by ASC Director of Media Relations Greg Weghorst. #Kerrie Carter#, #Margaret Milling# and #Brianna Smith# all found spots on the postseason teams.
Carter, who finished her career with more than 1,000 points and 600 rebounds, was named to the ASC West Division Second Team. The Cuero, Texas native led Concordia by averaging 14.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. She finished eighth overall in the conference in scoring average and sixth in rebounding average.
Milling racked up four honors in her first collegiate season. The Fort Worth, Texas native was named the ASC West Division Freshman of the Year and found a place on the ASC West Division Defensive Team and the ASC West Division Freshman Team. She was also selected as an ASC West Division Honorable Mention player. Milling led the conference in steals (3.9 per game) and was second in the league in assists (4.8 per game). She finished fourth on the team in scoring at 8 points per game.
Smith, who was one of the most consistent players for Concordia in 2009-10, was named to the ASC West Division Freshman Team and an ASC West Division Honorable Mention selection. The Carrollton, Texas native averaged 12.6 points per game and led Concordia with 40 three-pointers this season. Smith finished eighth in the conference by shooting 36.7% from beyond the arc.
The Tornados finished the year with a 9-16 overall record and 7-14 mark in the ASC despite numerous season-ending injuries. Concordia finished in sixth place in the ASC West Division under second-year head coach Steve Cochran.
