CTX Men's Golf Finishes Strong at UT-Dallas Spring Classic

RICHARDSON, Texas --
The Concordia University Texas men's golf team posted the third lowest round of any team on Tuesday en route to a fifth place finish at the University of Texas-Dallas Spring Classic at Sherrill Park Golf Course.  Concordia finished second among NCAA Division III teams at the event.

#Michael Goldwater# and #Justin Muraida# tied to post the low round for Concordia on Tuesday.  Both players shot a four-over par 76 in the final 18 holes.  Goldwater's 54-hole total of 228 put him at the top of the Tornados in the standings.  He finished tied for 25th overall in the tournament.  Muraida, who improved four strokes on both of his first two rounds, finished tied for 42nd overall.

#C.J. Caliendo# continued his solid play, shooting a five-over 77 in the final 18.  Caliendo finished tied for 27th overall. 

#J.D. Heathcoat# shot a five-over 77 on Tuesday, as well, to finish tied for 36th place.  #Eddie Diaz de Leon#, who was the Tornados leader on Monday slipped down to a tie for 42nd place after shooting an 84 on Tuesday.

The Tornados shot 306 overall on Tuesday and finished the tournament with a combined shot total of 918.  The University of Texas-Tyler won the team title by shooting a 54-hole total of 872.  SMU's Brian Fragakis was able to hold off Baylor's Ryan O'Rear on the final day by one stroke to claim the individual crown.

Concordia will return to the course on April 11 at the NCAA Division III West Region Invitational at Teravista Golf Course in Round Rock.
