ROUND ONE RESULTS
GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Freshman #Eddie Diaz de Leon# is in a 12th place tie after carding a three-over par 75 during the first round of the West Region Invitational, hosted by Southwestern at Teravista Golf Course on Monday. Overall, Concordia is in seventh place.
The Tornados shot a combined 315 on Monday and are two shots behind Mary Hardin-Baylor for sixth place. Diaz de Leon played a consistent 18 holes, shooting a 37 on the front nine and followed that up with a 38 on the back half of the course.
Senior #Michael Goldwater# shot a 39 on the front nine, but improved by one stroke on the back nine to a 38. His 77 has him in a tie for 19th place after the first round.
Freshman #C.J. Caliendo# had the fourth lowest front nine of all of the field's participants after firing a 35. However, Caliendo struggled on the back nine holes, carding a 45. He is tied for 34th place after shooting an 80 overall.
#Justin Muraida# carded an 83 and #J.D. Heathcoat# shot a 91 on the day to finish in ties for 47th and 51st places, respectively.
Concordia also entered #Brecken Anderson# and #Kyle Crawford# in the event. Anderson shot an 84 on the day, while Crawford recorded an 87 on his score card.
Texas-Brownsville holds the tournament lead with a combined score of 285. Southwestern is the top NCAA Division III team after shooting 296.
The Tornados will look to improve in the final round on Tuesday.
