Diaz de Leon Finishes Tied for Second; CTX Finishes Fifth Overall

GEORGETOWN, Texas --
Freshman #Eddie Diaz de Leon# became the first player in Concordia University Texas men's golf history to card an under-par round.  Diaz de Leon shot a one-under par 71 on Tuesday in the final round of the West Region Invitational, hosted by Southwestern, at Teravista Golf Course, which vaulted him into a second place tie and helped the Tornados to a fifth place finish.

Diaz de Leon was the only player in the 53-participant field to shoot under par in the final 18 holes.  He is one of only three players in the tournament to shoot under par in the two-day event.

Overall, Concordia had the second lowest score on Tuesday, shooting 299 on the day.  The Tornados carded a three-day total of 926, finishing one shot behind Texas Lutheran.

Senior #Michael Goldwater# turned in a 76 on Tuesday to finish in an 18th place tie with a total score of 230.  Freshman #Justin Muraida# tied for 30th with a 239 in the tournament, including a 77 on Tuesday.

Freshman #C.J. Caliendo# recorded a 39th place finish with a score of 242 and freshman #J.D. Heathcoat# posted a 248 in the event.

#Kyle Crawford# finished in 52nd place with a 280, while #Brecken Anderson# withdrew from the final day's action.

Texas-Brownsville held on to win the team title, while UT-Brownsville's Chris Milligan claimed the individual crown with a 54-hole score of 212.

The Tornados will await the conference's decision for the tournament field in the American Southwest Conference championship, which is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 19.  The tournament field is expected to be set later this week.
