Goldwater, Diaz de Leon Garner All-Conference Honors

RICHARDSON, Texas -- Senior #Michael Goldwater# and freshman #Eddie Diaz de Leon# garnered all-conference honors following the 2010 American Southwest Conference Golf Championships this week.

Goldwater, who finished as the runner-up at the conference tournament, earned first team all-conference honors.  The Austin, Texas, native set the school record on Tuesday with a three-under par 68 in the final round of the ASC tournament.

Goldwater finished the year ranked as the 140th player at the NCAA Division III level, according to Golfstat.  He recorded a season best 54-hole score of 217 at the conference tournament.  His season low for a 36-hole event was 145 during the Schreiner Fall Classic on Oct. 20, 2009.  He shot an average score of 76.15 during eight events this season.

Diaz de Leon finished 10th at the conference tournament and earned second team all-conference honors.  He previously held the school record for a one-under par 71 round a week prior to Goldwater's outstanding performance.

Diaz de Leon recorded an average score of 77.6 in eight tournaments during his freshman campaign.  He posted a 54-hole best of 221 during the West Region Invitational on April 13.  His lowest score of a 36-hole tournament was 150 during the Schreiner Fall Classic on Oct. 20, 2009.

Goldwater and Diaz de Leon join Jeff Williams as the only Tornado golfers to ever be named all-conference.

Concordia finished the season ranked 18th in the region and 58th overall in the nation.
