The 1999 volleyball team was the first to play an American Southwest Conference schedule. The Tornados, under first-year head coach Gwendolyn Adams Weatherford, won the ASC Volleyball Tournament that season and is so far the only team to do so. The team finished the season at a program-best 23-6 and went 10-0 in ASC play. The campaign featured a streak of nine matches that saw the Tornados go a perfect 3-0. The team ended the year on a 12-match winning streak. They are the third team to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, joining the 2002 baseball team and the 1982-83 men's basketball team.
