Baseball Finishes with Another Win over HT

AUSTIN, TX- Concordia University Texas baseball picked up a 9-5 win over Austin rival, Huston-Tillotson Tuesday afternoon at Nelson Field. Concordia improves to 6-4 overall while, Huston-Tillotson falls to 0-12 on the 2009 season. 

In the first inning, Concordia started strong putting two runners on base for Tom Williams who singled driving in two runs for the Tornados. They put more runs on the board in the second inning after Justin Beasley hit an RBI double followed by Williams' three-run homerun which marked his fifth homerun this season. 

The Tornados went into the third leading 8-0 over the rams. They scored two more runs in the third inning of two hits and one error. 

The Rams scored five runs in the top of the seventh to put them within three of the Tornados trailing 8-5. 

Concordia scored another run in the seventh to pick up the 9-5 vicotry over the Rams which marks the second time that Concordia has left victorious over HT this season. 

Donovan Riggles picked up the win for the Tornados after five complete innings while allowing two hits and three strikeouts. 

Tom Williams and Just Beasley each compiled three hits in the win. Williams was 3 for 5 with four RBIs. 

As a team Concordia finished with 12 hits and 4 errors in the victory. 

Concordia will be back in action on this weekend against the University of Texas at Dallas in ASC cross-over action. Game time is set for 1:00 PM Friday at Nelson Field then will continue with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
