SAN ANTONIO, TX- Concordia baseball picked up a 7-3 victory over Trinity University on Tuesday night on the road in San Antonio. Senior
Chad Thielepape led the Tornados going 4-for-4 with four RBIs in the win.
With a runner in scoring position, senior
Tom Williams blasted his ninth homerun of the season, in the first inning to give Concordia the early 2-0 lead.
Thielepape had his first RBI single of the game in the third inning scoring in
Patrick Mercer, who led off the inning with a single, to give them the lead.
Nick Cmerek continued the scoring for the Tornados scoring a solo run in the fourth inning off a wild pitch sending them into the bottom of the fourth with a 4-2 lead.
The Tigers scored their final run of the game off an RBI double by Trinity centerfielder John Paillet in the fourth.
The Tornados struck again in the seventh and ninth innings as Theilepape drove in the final three runs for the Tornados off RBI singles.
Concordia improves to 11-8 overall and 1-2 in American Southwest Conference (ASC) action while, Trinity falls to 8-10 overall.
Donovan Riggles picked up the win after three innings of work while allowing three hits, two strikeouts and one earned run.
Stephen Szkotak was awarded his fourth save on the year after two innings while retiring three Tiger batters to strikeouts.
Concordia will continue American Southwest Conference action this weekend against Howard Payne University. The games will be played at Rouse High School on Friday (2 PM) and a double header on Saturday (1PM).
