SEGUIN, TX- Concordia University Texas dropped their first American Southwest Conference game which was a battle of the arms, to Texas Lutheran, 3-2 Friday afternoon at Katt-Isbel Field.

Concordia falls to 9-7 overall and 0-1 in ASC action while, Texas Lutheran improves to 11-5 overall and 1-0 in the ASC.

A pair of doubles for Texas Lutheran in the seventh inning was too much for the Tornados as they took the 3-1 lead.

Senior, Chad Thielepape led the Tornados going 3-for-4 on the day including a solo homerun in the eighth inning to put Concordia within one of the Bulldogs.

In the ninth inning with one out Micah Runnels walked to get a runner on base although the Bulldogs closed the game out with a double play to give them the 3-2 victory.

Matt Coburn did all he could to help the Tornados, striking out 11 Bulldogs and did not walk a batter in his eight innings of action.

Travis Staggs picked up his third win of the season while allowing one earned run.

The ASC series will continue tomorrow with a double header that will begin at noon. TLU will host live stats and live audio of both games.
