ABILENE, Texas- Concordia University Texas baseball fell to McMurry University, 2-1 after McMurry drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth at Walt Driggers Field Friday night.
Concordia fall to 16-16 overall and 5-8 in American Southwest Conference action while, McMurry improves to 17-12 and 8-5 in ASC play.
McMurry got on the board first scoring one run in the bottom of the first off an RBI single.
The scored remained 1-0 until Concordia's
Chad Thielepape drove in
Tom Williams who led off the inning with a single although advanced to third putting him in position for Thielepape to drive him in tying the game at one.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the ninth when McMurry's Jake Mullin hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to give McMurry the 2-1 victory.
As a team, Concordia out-hit McMurry 8-to-6 although they didn't take advantage of McMurry's three errors in the contest.
Matt Coburn picked up the loss after 8.2 innings allowing only two earned runs and six hits. Coburn also struck out 14 batters and only walked one in the loss.
The series will continue on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm.
