ABILENE, Texas- Concordia University Texas baseball fell to McMurry University, 24-2 in game one followed by a 9-8 loss at Walt Driggers Field Saturday afternoon to complete McMurry's three game American Southwest Conference sweep.
Concordia falls to 16-18 overall and 5-10 in American Southwest Conference action while McMurry improves to 19-12 overall and 10-5 in the ASC.
In game one on Saturday Concordia struggled to stop McMurry's offensive threat as they to the 24-2 loss after McMurry put runs on the board in every inning.
The Tornados were out-hit by McMurry 35-to-7 in the loss.
In game two on Saturday Concordia led McMurry 8-2 going into the bottom of the eighth inning before McMurry scored three runs followed by four runs in the ninth to give them the 9-8 victory.
Senior
Tom Williams drove in three runs for the Tornados off a homerun in the top of the first.
As a team the Tornados combined for eight hits in game two along with committing one error.
Starter,
Ben Whiteley threw 7.2 innings allowing 7 hits, 5 runs and 6 strikeouts.
Concordia will be back in American Southwest Conference action this coming weekend as they take on the University of Mary Hardin Baylor starting on Friday at 1:00pm followed by a doubleheader on Saturday at noon. All games will be played at Nelson Field.
On Saturday Concordia will take the time to honor their seniors.
