AUSTIN, Texas -- A late second-half surge by Mississippi College lifted the Lady Choctaws (11-1, 6-1 American Southwest Conference) past the Concordia University Texas women's basketball team, 72-51, on Thursday night at Concordia Fieldhouse.

After trailing by 17 at halftime (27-44), the Tornados (5-6, 4-5 ASC) stormed back into the game behind the strength of a 12-2 run in the first five-and-a-half minutes of the second half.  Trailing by seven points (39-46), Concordia could not get any closer as the Lady Choctaws received a three-pointer from Randa Lee (39-49).

Mississippi College would push the lead up to as much as 21 late in the contest.

Concordia shot only 32.3% (20-of-62) in the contest, including 28.6% (4-for-14) from beyond the three-point line. 

Only one Tornado, #Brianna Smith#, scored in double digits (15 points).

Despite the shooting struggles, Concordia forced 31 turnovers on defense. 

Freshman guard #Margaret Milling# finished the game with seven points, six steals and five assists for Concordia.

The Tornados will return to action on Saturday in an ASC match up with Louisiana College at Concordia Fieldhouse.  Tip time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
