BOX SCORE

AUSTIN, Texas --
For the fourth consecutive season, the Concordia University Texas men's basketball team is heading to the postseason under head coach Stan Bonewitz as the Tornados (13-9, 11-7 ASC) defeated Schreiner University 90-79 on Thursday night at Concordia Fieldhouse.

The Tornados used the momentum of a late first-half spurt, which was capped off by a #Tayler Jacobs# buzzer beating three-pointer just before halftime, to outlast the visiting Mountaineers.  Jacobs was one of five CTX players who netted double digits as he poured in a career-best 15 points.  He also had five assists and five steals in the win.

Senior #Brad Walker# paced Concordia with 16 points off the bench, which tied him with former Tornado Valentino Maxwell for fifth all-time on the CTX scoring list with 1,481 points.  Seniors #Reza Farahani# and #Brian Elarms# each registered double digits, scoring 14 and 11, respectively.  Junior post #Collin Perkins# posted his first career double-double by scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Tornados led 45-31 at the half.  Despite being outscored 48-45 in the second half, Concordia picked up the win, which clinched not only a playoff spot, but no worse than a third-place finish in the ASC West Division.

The Tornados shot 47.6% (30-of-63) from the field and 92% (23-of-25) from the free throw line.

Schreiner shot 45.6% (26-of-57) from the floor, which included a chilly 9.1% (1-of-11) from beyond the three-point line.  Riley Battle led the visitors with 27 points.

Prior to the game, five Concordia senior players (Walker, Farahani, Elarms, #Nate Lee#, and #Keesler Shepard#) were honored in their final home game of their careers.

The Tornados will head out on the road for the final three regular season games.  The three-game road trip begins on Saturday at Texas Lutheran.  Tip time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
