SEGUIN, Texas --
The Concordia University Texas women's basketball team dropped its road contest with Texas Lutheran University, 77-54, in Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. Senior #Kerrie Carter# led the Tornados (8-15, 6-13 ASC) with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

The Tornados pulled within two of Texas Lutheran (12-10, 11-8 ASC) after a layup by freshman #Margaret Milling# with 13:46 remaining in the first half.  An 11-2 run by the Bulldogs over the next four minutes allowed TLU to increase its lead to nine (21-12).

The Bulldogs capitalized on Concordia's first-half shooting woes by extending their lead to 14 at halftime (38-24).  The Tornados shot a chilly 26-percent in the first half.

TLU's momentum carried over into the second half as the Bulldogs' lead extended to as much as 26.  The Tornados' shooting improved during the second half, but not enough to threaten Texas Lutheran in the game.  Overall, the Tornados shot 30-percent (16-of-53) from the field.  Concordia especially struggled from the three-point line where it shot just 15-percent (2-of-13) in the game.

Freshman #Brianna Smith# was the only other Tornado to score in double digits with 14 points.  Amy Doyle led three Bulldogs into double digits with 17 points.  Kimberly Hagan had 14 and Tamisha Timpson added 12 for the home team.

Concordia will play its second straight road game on Thursday, Feb. 18 at Howard Payne in Brownwood at 5:30 p.m.
