Nick Haynes scored 30 points, which included netting eight shots from downtown, in leading the Concordia University Texas men's basketball team to a 121-107 victory over Mississippi College on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the CTX Field House. The Tornados set a facility record for most points scored and earned their third straight victory against the Choctaws.

Mississippi College got on the board first when Chad Jones nailed a jumper at the 19:18 mark, but that was the only lead the Choctaws would own in the entire game. Chris McDermott canned a 3-pointer on the Tornados' next possession and the hosts would never surrender the lead the rest of the way.

The Choctaws were able to keep it close for much of the first half and tied the score at 27s on a Jones layup with 8:07 left to play. Concordia, however, got a 3-pointer from Haynes to go ahead for the rest of the game and held a 53-42 advantage at the recess.

The Tornados kept their double-digit lead over the Choctaws for the remaining 90 minutes. After a Trevon Malone layup sliced the deficit to 10 at 67-57, the Tornados burst ahead by as many as 25 points when McDermott converted a layup with 8:41 to play. A Darien Harris layup off a feed from Kenny Williams gave the Tornados 121 points to set a new facility record, beating the old mark of 119 set against Ozarks last season, and all the insurance they needed for the 14-point win.

Haynes netted his game-high 30 points on 9-for-15 shooting from the field and 8-for-13 shooting from long range for Concordia, which fell a point shy of matching its highest ever scoring mark since becoming an American Southwest Conference and NCAA Division III member in 1999. Darius Anderson and McDermott added 20 apiece, while Williams added a double-double with 17 points and a career-high 11 assists to go along with three steals.

Mississippi College (1-6, ASC 1-6) was paced by Trevon Malone, who led five Choctaw players who scored in double figures with 19 points. Jesse Taylor and Adam Smith scored 16 apiece, while Jones finished with 11 points and seven boards.

Concordia (4-3, ASC 3-2) will host Louisiana College on Monday, Dec. 19 at 3 p.m.
