Shelby Parson scored 13 points, but the Concordia University Texas men's basketball team fell by a 97-85 score to Mississippi College on Thursday, Dec. 6 at the A.E. Wood Coliseum.

The teams played a one-possession game until Terry Corprew converted an unassisted layup that made it 17-12 with 11:47 left in the first half. LaQuavius Cotton canned a 3-pointer to bring the margin down to a point, but Concordia answered with a 16-6 run and went ahead by double figures on a 3-pointer by Henry Riasco that created a 33-22 score. The Choctaws came within seven on two occasions before Josh Sanchez made a free throw to give the Tornados a 42-34 advantage at the break.

Mississippi College (4-1, ASC 2-1) began chipping away at the deficit when Brandon Blake finished a pass from Cotton. Two free throws by Turmonte Ragland gave the Choctaws their first lead since the first half at 50-49 heading into the first media timeout, and a dunk by Vic McLin Jr. extended the lead to nine, 61-62, with 12:02 remaining in regulation. Consecutive threes followed by a Daryl Duncan layup then gave the Choctaws a 71-57 cushion. The lead grew to as many as 20 until a Reggie Brown dunk in the waning seconds sealed the final outcome.

Parson scored his team-high 13 points for Concordia by shooting 5-for-7 from the field and 3-for-5 from the stripe. He also grabbed five rebounds. Corprew contributed 12 points and four steals, while Sanchez added nine points and four assists.
