Joey Ramirez Named USBWA Division III National Player of the Week

Ramirez notched a career-high 44 points against Hardin-Simmons last week.

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - Concordia Texas guard Joey Ramirez has been named the USBWA Divsion III National Player of the Week, the association announced on Tuesday. The senior, who is first in the nation with 28.2 ppg, turned in two exceptional performances last week. Ramirez is the second ever Tornado to earn the honor (Destiny Mathews, November 2024) and the first ever in the history of the men's basketball program.

Ramirez averaged 34.5 ppg, 11.0 rbg, 6.0 apg, and 2.5 spg in a pair of wins for Concordia Texas. In a 122-102 triumph over Hardin-Simmons, Ramirez earned a career-high 44 points to go along with season-highs of 13 rebounds & five steals.

The 44 points tied for the fourth most in program history and was the most since he scored 41 last season in February. In a 108-91 victory over Huston-Tillotson, Ramirez totaled 25 points, nine rebounds, and a season-high seven assists.

Currently, the Tornados rank high in several statistical categories nationally as they are second in steals (18.3 spg), second in forced turnovers (28.3), third in scoring (112.2 ppg), and third in assists (21.8 apg).
