Seven teams gathered together on Saturday October 18, 2008 at the Kurth Landrum Golf Course to race at Southwestern University's annual cross country meet, the Southwestern University Open.

The Concordia men's cross country team placed sixth overall. Consistent with his performance during the 2008 season, Stephen Wright again led the men's team, coming in 24th with a time of 30:54 over the challenging 8K course. Four more Tornados would follow Wright with Freshman Warren Sanders posting his best time of the season. Warren Sanders (26th, 31:14), Ryan Roehr (35th, 33:21), Mark Passell (38th, 33:42) and Mark Giardinelli (43rd, 42:20).

Freshman Joli Bula once again came in first for the women's cross country team, taking 14th place with a season best time of 25:46. Christine Gilbert followed in 27th at 28:21, a season best, with the scoring rounded out with season best times by Valerie Fusilier (33rd , 29:09) and Angel Emerson (37th, 29:54).

The race was a good finish for the Tornados regular season. The team will take next weekend off as they prepare for the American Southwest Conference Cross Country Championships, hosted by Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, TX on November 1, 2008.
