KERRVILLE, Texas -- The Concordia University Texas men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 setback at the hands of Schreiner University Friday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action. The Tornados (3-5-2, 1-4-2 ASC) received a lone goal from senior forward #Michael Pena#.
CTX went down early in the match as Schreiner (4-4-2, 3-1-2 ASC) picked up a 15th minute goal from Phillip Anderson.
The Mountaineers doubled their lead in the 33rd minute after Kenny Benson was able to score on CTX junior goalkeeper #Eric Davis#.
Davis gave up his third goal of the contest with under a minute remaining before halftime as Jeremy Leoni stretch the Schreiner lead to 3-0.
The Tornados finally got in the scoring column as Pena scored his first goal of the season in the 47th minute.
However, SU would add another goal to put the game out of reach. Freshman goalkeeper #Ubaldo Vazquez# allowed his first goal of the year as Benson netted his second score of the contest in the 73rd minute.
CTX will turn around and head back out to the pitch tomorrow afternoon in a 3 p.m. start with Texas Lutheran University in Seguin.
