By: Concordia takes 2 of 3 from UT-Dallas
Austin, TX- The Concordia University Texas Tornados faced the traveling University of Texas Dallas Comets on a windy day. The windy day helped the Tornados as they destroyed the comets 24-2.
Despite the stellar offensive from the Tornados, junior pitcher
Michael Johnson took things into his own hands striking out 17, including 4 in the 7th inning.
The game started off with leadoff batter
Micah Runnels doubling to center fields. Runnels later scored on a fielder's choice by senior
Tom Williams. With the bases loaded sophomore
Justin Beasley hit a grand slam to give the Tornados an early 7-0 lead. In the second inning Williams launched a deep homerun over the school busses in left field. Beasley again came up to bat with the bases loaded, this time hitting a 2 run single. In the 4th inning
Killan Kinart hit a base clearing double to give the Tornados a 24-1 lead, his second base clearing double of the game. Key players for the Tornados were pitcher Johnson who pitched a complete game, Kinart who was 4-6 including a homerun, two doubles and 8 runs batted in and Beasley who was 4-5 with 6 runs batted in.
In game two the Tornados bats were not as dominate as they were in the first game. Unfortunately the Tornados were held to 2 runs in a 16-2 loss.
Concordia will take on DeSales University Tuesday at Nelson Field. Opening pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
