ROUND ROCK, Texas- Concordia University Texas softball dropped two American Southwest Conference games to the University of Mary Hardin Baylor Tuesday night at Old Settlers Park. In game one the Cru took the 3-1 victory before finalizing the day one sweep with a 7-6 win in game two.
Concordia fell to 18-14 overall and 10-8 in American Southwest Conference action while, Mary Hardin Baylor improves to 15-15 and 6-8 ASC.
The Tornados got on the board first in the second inning scoring one run off a sacrifice fly by
Samantha Dominguez. This was the only run that the Tornados could muster after being out-hit by the Cru 8-to-5 in the loss.
Mary Hardin Baylor posted three runs in the fourth inning to give them the 3-1 lead which was enough to take the victory.
In game two, Mary Baylor posted a solo run in the first inning before scoring three more in the second to give them the 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the second.
The Tornados tied the game at four all in the second inning after Dominguez singled with the bases loaded scoring two to start off the scoring in the inning.
Elizabeth Rojo and DeeDee Faschingbauer each singled to each score a solo runs to tie the game at four all.
In the fourth inning Mary Hardin Baylor scored one run on one hit to take the lead.
Concordia took over the lead in the fifth after
Lauren Vansickle doubled to start the inning eventually scoring after
Karen Smart knocked in another double scoring two Tornados.
Going into the seventh inning the Tornados had the momentum although the Cru fought back to take the victory after Kelsey Greeson hit a 2-run RBI to give them the 7-6 win.
Concordia will close out the American Southwest Conference series against the University of Mary Hardin Baylor tomorrow as they return to Old Settlers Park at 5:00 pm.
