Brownwood, Texas- The Concordia University Texas softball program split the Saturday afternoon
double header against Howard-Payne University (29-9 17-7 ASC). Concordia (20-20, 11-13 ASC) won the first game 4-3 and lost game two of the American Southwest Conference series 3-5.
In game one the Tornados started off an a good note when junior Carri Goree drove in the first run of the game to give the Tornados a 1-0 lead.
The big inning for the Tornados came in the top of the fifth when sophomore
Jessica Rattan scored
Lauren Vansickle on a sacrifice bunt. Later in the inning Goree drove in her second run of the game.
Freshman
Lyssa Yates struck out four in the win, her 11th of the year.
Game two of the double header was a thriller to the very end unfortunately the Tornados did not come out victorious.
The Tornados trailed 0-3 in the top of the 7th when
Ashley Bolton hit a sacrifice fly to score sophomore
Jodi Hierholzer. Goree again drove in two runs on a double that scored
Elizabeth Rojo and Bolton to tie the game at three.
In the bottom of the 7th the Yellow Jacket bats came alive as they scored two runs to win 5-3.
