AUSTIN, Texas—Corey Holton, formerly an assistant women’s soccer coach at NCAA Division III Greensboro College in Greensboro, NC, has been named as the new Concordia University Texas head women’s soccer coach.

“Concordia’s Athletics Department is proud to have Corey Holton lead our women’s soccer program. She will be an asset to our women’s soccer team and brings with her a strong background in Division III women’s soccer with a history of contributing to winning programs,” Dan Huntley, Athletics Department Director, said. “In addition to her athletics experience, Corey also brings a wealth of administrative knowledge to not only our program but also the University.”

Holton, a 2005 graduate of Elmira College in Elmira, NY, spent a year with the Eastern College Athletic Conference as the Communications Assistant where she had the opportunity to organize Division II and III soccer championships, as well as the Division I Soccer Jamboree.

"I am excited about the opportunity to work at Concordia University Texas. I believe the institution, athletic department and women's soccer program are heading in a positive direction. The women's soccer team has great potential and I look forward to building on that and creating a competitive program within the conference" Corey Holton said.

While at Elmira College, she captained her women’s soccer team for two of her four seasons, helping the team make it to multiple post-season appearances. Holton graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in Psychology. She then went on to get her master’s in Sports Studies from High Point University in High Point, NC, graduating in 2008.

For the past three seasons, Holton has been an assistant coach at Greensboro College. As an assistant coach, she was responsible for recruiting, academic counseling, scheduling, arranging travel, scouting opponents and goalkeeper training. During her tenure at Greensboro, Holton coached seven all-conference players, including two all-region players. In the 2007 season, she helped lead the team to a record-breaking season finishing with 14 wins, four losses and one tie.

“I am excited to join Concordia and lead the women’s soccer program,” Holton, said. “This program has many talented athletes and I’m looking forward to working with each of them and the coaching staff.”

On the Greensboro campus, Holton also worked with the Office of Disability Services and acted as an Assistant Manager at the Royce Reynolds Recreation Center.

Holton assumes the duties formerly held by Jeana Rich as Concordia’s head women’s soccer coach starting immediately.
