Concordia University Texas announces hiring of new SID

AUSTIN, Texas - Tony Baldwin has been named Sports Information Director at Concordia University Texas.   Baldwin takes over for Brooke Boggs, who vacated the position on June 25, 2009. 
Dan Huntley, Director of Athletics made the announcement today. “Tony has a great demeanor, an understanding of our position and has a connection to Concordia as an alumnus of Concordia University Ann Arbor. He will bring energy and creativity to this position as well as provide all of the knowledge and experience we were looking for,” stated Huntley.
Currently, Baldwin is the Web content writer and assistant baseball coach at the University of the Ozarks, a member of the American Southwest Conference with Concordia.  Baldwin has been writing content and feature stories for the Ozarks Web site, as well as assisting the SID with graphic design, radio play-by-play and public address announcing. Prior to arriving at Ozarks, Baldwin served as the sports information director at Madonna University and Concordia University Ann Arbor.
“I am thrilled that the search committee and (Athletic Director) Dan Huntley gave me this opportunity,” said Baldwin. “I appreciate the faith they have in me to do this job. I think I can bring lots of enthusiasm and creative ideas to the Athletics Department and Concordia University Texas.”
Baldwin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from Concordia University Ann Arbor (MI). He is currently pursuing a master's of science degree in college student personnel from Arkansas Tech University.
“Baldwin has the ability to increase viewership of our athletic Web site which in turn will help us retain and recruit more quality student-athletes,” stated Huntley. “Tony plans on expanding our production of video content as well as provide greater interactivity through our Web page with the addition of more audio and video webcasting of athletic events and player-coach interviews.”
The sports information director serves as the liaison between the Athletics Department and the media on a local and national level, coordinating and providing media information for all 13 sports at Concordia University Texas.
