AUSTIN, Texas --  The Concordia Texas women's soccer team battled Milwaukee School of Engineering to a 1-1 tie in a double overtime affair Sunday afternoon at Town & Country Optimist Soccer Fields.

MSOE (2-0-1) looked unorganized as the game began, but managed a goal in the 15th minute as Heidi Brehmer slipped a ball past the Concordia (1-0-1) defense that led to the foot of Jessica Axt, who scored as goalkeeper #Teysha Sivage# came off her line in an attempt to cut down the angle.

Following the goal, MSOE pressured the Tornados for remainder of the first half and much of the second half before sophomore #Kiera Ruck# (pictured, right) tied the game at 1-1 after placing a shot that just touched the outstreched fingers of Raiders goalkeeper Emma Lumpe and found the back of the net.

After two extra periods of scoreless soccer the teams finished with the draw.

"I am very pleased with our performance today," said Concordia head coach Corey Holton.  "MSOE is a talented team and we played with them."

Concordia missed on a good chance in the first half as Ruck crossed a ball that found its way to the far post but was too long for sophomore midfielder #Rose Cutrer#, who was making a run.

"We moved the ball well today," Holton said.  "I continue to be amazed by this team's heart and determination in achieving their goals."

Sivage came up with a big diving save with 16 minutes to play in the second half.  Mindy Donald launched a shot from 10 yards out in a crowd that forced Sivage to dive to her right and knock the ball out of bounds.

Each team recorded 11 shots and four fouls in the contest.  Concordia held the edge on corner kicks over MSOE, 4-3.

Sivage posted a game high five saves for the Tornados.

MSOE received a dual effort in net as Erin VandenLangenberg played the first half and stopped four shots.  Lumpe played the remainder of the contest, making one save and allowing one goal.

The Tornados will return to action Thursday, Sept. 10 in a road match at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie at 3:00 p.m.
