Austin, Texas
– Concordia University Texas Director of Athletics Stan Bonewitz announced on Wednesday, May 30 the hiring of Myranda Sanders as head women's soccer coach. Sanders, who is slated to begin her duties on June 18, comes to Concordia after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at Mississippi State of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

“We are very excited to have Myranda Sanders join the CTX family,” Bonewitz stated. “She brings a wealth of experience in her profession as both a player and a coach. Our women's soccer program has really elevated during the past couple of seasons, and we are confident that Mrs. Sanders will continue that trend. Her passion for working with student-athletes and for living out our mission at Concordia will make her a great fit in our department. We are ready for her to put her stamp on the program.”

Sanders helped the Bulldogs post its highest win total in conference play since 2004. The program also recorded upsets over two nationally-ranked opponents – Auburn and Florida – for the first time since the 2003 season.

Prior to her arrival at Mississippi State, Sanders served as an assistant coach for one season at Northwestern State in Louisiana. She helped lead the Lady Demons, which compete in the Southland Conference, to their best start in program history. It was Sanders' second stint at the institution, as she also served as a graduate assistant coach while pursuing her master's degree during the 2003 and 2004 campaigns.

Sanders' coaching experiences also include an internship with the Auburn Tiger women's soccer program in 2005 and helping with the Duke Soccer School for Girls and the Elite Soccer Academy from 2000-04.

A native of Tyler, Texas, Sanders began coaching following a successful playing career at Tennessee Tech. She helped the Golden Eagles win the Ohio Valley Conference championship in 2000 and earned all-conference second team laurels. The Dean's List student also made the OVC All-Tournament Team in 2001.

“I feel very blessed and would like to thank Stan Bonewitz for giving me the opportunity to serve as the next head women's soccer coach at Concordia,” said Sanders. “I was drawn to the school's mission of developing Christian leaders, and I am very excited to build upon the success that the program has had in recent years and bring it to even greater heights beginning this fall.”

Sanders earned a bachelor's degree in biology and health science from Tennessee Tech in 2003 and a master's in health and human performance with a concentration in sports administration from Northwestern State in 2005. She has an NSCAA Advanced National License plans to reside in Austin with her husband, David, who she married on July 23, 2011.
