NEW ORLEANS – Concordia University Texas senior Megan Wagenaar was named All-South/Southeast Region on Tuesday morning, it was announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Wagenaar, a native of Missouri City, Texas, finished 11th at last weekend's NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Championships and became the first runner in program history to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Wagenaar is in the midst of a record-breaking campaign. She was named American Southwest Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week twice and set a pair of program records.
The 5-foot-6 harrier broke the program's standard in the 5k by nearly 35 seconds at the Fourth Annual Concordia Texas Invitational on Oct. 18, as she crossed the line in 18:38.75. Last Saturday, she bested the school's 6k record by nearly 15 seconds after navigating the course in 22:54.80.
Wagenaar will race at the national meet on Saturday, Nov. 23, in Hanover, Ind.
