– Six teams will make the trek to Concordia University Texas' Tornado Field to compete in the 2013 NCAA Division III West Regional Baseball Tournament, as announced by the NCAA on Monday, May 13. The field includes three schools from Texas – Trinity, Texas Lutheran and Texas-Tyler – as well as Linfield (Ore.), Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.) and California Lutheran.

Linfield (34-6), the top seed at the regional, earned an automatic bid by winning its third Northwest Conference title in the last four seasons. The Wildcats are also the top-ranked team in the country according to D3baseball.com. California Lutheran (34-7-1) will be the second seed after winning the inaugural Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament crown. The nation's seventh-ranked team is making its first NCAA postseason appearance since 2009. Texas-Tyler (35-10), the third seed, and Trinity (36-7), which is seeded fifth, are the automatic bids out of the American Southwest Conference and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, respectively, while fourth-seeded Pomona-Pitzer and sixth-seeded Texas Lutheran earned Pool C bids to round out the field.

Tickets will be sold beginning at 10:30 a.m. on each day of the tournament at the gate of Tornado Field. Day passes can be purchased at a cost of $10 for adults and $6 for students, while tournament passes can be purchased at a cost of $25 for adults and $10 for students. There will be no advance ticket sales.

The 2013 NCAA Baseball Tournament will feature 56 teams competing at eight different regional sites. The field is comprised of 38 automatic qualifiers as conference champions, four teams among independents and conference champions in non-automatic qualifying leagues (Pool B) and 14 at-large representatives (Pool C). The regional champion from each of the eight sites will advance to Appleton, Wisconsin to compete at the College World Series from May 24-28.

Notes: The 2013 NCAA Division III West Regional Baseball Tournament that takes place from May 15-19 will mark the first time in school history that Concordia University Texas has hosted an NCAA postseason event in any sport ... Four schools in the six-team field are ranked among the top 17 in the country and three are among the top seven in the nation according to the latest D3Baseball.com national poll … This includes #1 Linfield, #6 Trinity, #7 California Lutheran and #17 Texas-Tyler … Pomona-Pitzer and Texas Lutheran are among the teams receiving votes … The NCAA West Regional is the only regional with three teams ranked in the top 10 nationally and one of only two with four of the top 25 teams in the country … The Central Regional, which will be hosted by Augustana in Moline, Illinois, includes #13 Webster, #18 Augustana, #20 Concordia Chicago and #21 Wartburg.
