Newberg, Oregon – The Concordia University Texas women's basketball team is making its first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history in Oregon this weekend. One of the student-athletes will reflect on her personal experiences as well as the team's each day. Junior
Brianna Smith, who has seen the program improve its season win total from nine to 23 since she was a freshman, talked about the fourth and final day of the trip.
BRIANNA SMITH'S THOUGHTS ON DAY FOUR OF NCAA TOURNAMENT TRIP TO OREGON:
After a long day and a very successful year, we were looking forward to spending our last day out on the town as a group in Portland, Las Vegas and at home in Austin.
We started off the day heading to downtown Portland to do some shopping and sightseeing. Along the way, we stopped at Niketown, H&M, Forever 21, Voodoo Donuts and Pioneer Square.
After a couple of hours of exploring the city, we got on the bus to head to the airport and had just enough time to grab Wendy's before we boarded a plane to Las Vegas. It was a quick and smooth flight. During the layover, we walked around, slept and hung out to pass time while we waited for our final flight.
On the flight back home to Austin, I had a lot of time to reflect back on the season and how far the program has come since my freshman year. It is crazy to me and seems almost unbelievable how much this program has changed over these past few years I have been here. I can not express in words how blessed I am to have these girls and coaches in my life.
Since my junior year has come to an end, it is weird to say I am a senior. I am very excited and look forward to what next year has to bring. We have laid a foundation and set the bar high for years to come. I also feel we have changed the program for the better, and next year, we only plan to build on it.
