Senior Matt McManemin of the baseball team is the 35th Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2011-12 academic year after leading the squad to its second straight American Southwest Conference championship. He is earning the honor for the first time of his career.
McManemin was named the Most Valuable Player of the American Southwest Conference Tournament after batting .455 with a double, two RBI and two stolen bases while also finishing with a .538 on-base percentage and a .545 slugging percentage. Defensively, the senior did not commit an error at second base.
McManemin, a kinesiology major from Carrollton, Texas, is the son of Laura and Jason January. He has one brother, Jon.
