Student-Athlete Information

The following information and links provide important health information for Concordia University Texas student-athletes. All student-athletes should read and make sure they understand the information in these documents. Contact Concordia Texas Head Athletic Trainer Martha Baldwin with any questions.

Student-Athlete Forms
Before a Concordia Texas student-athlete is allowed to participate in a team function the medical forms listed below must be completed and on file with the athletic training staff. Along with the completed forms, each student-athlete must have a copy of their insurance card (both front and back) on file as well. Each form will need to be filled out in its entirety and submitted online by August 1 in order to participate in practice or competitions.

Insurance
Student-athletes at Concordia Texas are required not only by the university but by the NCAA to carry and maintain an active insurance policy that will cover athletic related injuries. If you are not currently covered under an insurance policy that covers athletic injuries you must obtain a policy that will do so prior to participation in CTX athletics. The insurance policy must also allow for medical care in the Austin area and have maximum coverage limits of $90,000 (amount set by NCAA) or greater per incident.

Drug Testing
Concordia Texas participates in year-round drug testing.  Any student-athlete associated with Tornados Athletics will be subjected to random drug testing throughout the year.  The policies, procedures, and substances to be tested for have been provided by the NCAA and Drug Free Sport. Any drug included in the NCAA's banned substance list will tested for and a subsequent positive test will result in a suspension from Concordia Texas Athletics.

ADD/ADHD
The most common medical conditions that a stimulant is prescribed for are ADD and ADHD commonly results in a person being prescribed Adderall, Ritalin, Dexedrine, or etc.  Student-athletes who are taking a stimulant must present the following form to their physician to obtain a note which will be kept on file with the athletic training staff at Concordia Texas.

Drug Free Sport and Supplements
Important information about supplements and drug testing can also be found at www.drugfreesport.com. Drug Free Sport also offers the resource exchange center, which as a student-athlete, provides you with access to look up banned substances and inquire about supplements you are thinking of taking. To gain access just ask the athletic training staff for the login ID and password. All questions remain confidential.
