Senior Amanda Tarpley of the women’s soccer team is the fifth Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2012-13 academic year. She is earning the award for the second time of her career.

Tarpley, a defender, contributed on both sides of the ball in road matches against LeTourneau and Texas-Tyler. She helped anchor a back line that yielded only five shots in a 3-0 win over the Yellow Jackets to help the team extend its unbeaten streak to six matches at the time before heading home the lone goal against the Patriots a day later.

"Amanda led our team in a veteran senior fashion this past weekend," said head coach Myranda Sanders. "I felt she really stepped in and played with a great balance of aggression and composure."

Tarpley, a native of Round Rock, is a special education major and the daughter of Dena and Mark Tarpley.
