Sophomore Jordan James of the women’s soccer team is the sixth Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2012-13 academic year. She is earning the award for the first time of her career.
Jordan James scored both goals in Concordia's 2-1 double-overtime victory over rival Mary Hardin-Baylor on the road in come-from-behind fashion. With the team trailing 1-0 early in the second half, the sophomore netted the equalizer in the 49th minute as well as the game-winning tally in the 102nd minute of play.
“Jordan has a tremendous work ethic and does everything with a smile on her face,” said head coach Myranda Sanders. “She is a joy to coach and really came through for us when we needed her to by netting both of our goals against one of our biggest rivals.”
After setting a school record for victories in each of the last three seasons, the women’s soccer team is off to its best start in program history. The Tornados are 7-3-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play. James leads the team in scoring with 18 points on seven goals and four assists. Furthermore, three of her seven tallies have been game winners.
James, a native of Portland, Texas, is the daughter of Darren and Donna James. She has one sister, Chelsea.
