Junior Chastity Carrillo of the women’s soccer team is the 10th Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2012-13 academic year. She is earning the award for the second time of her career.
Carrillo, who broke single-season and career assist records this season, continued to create scoring opportunities for the Tornados in their match against Texas-Dallas in the American Southwest Conference Tournament. She also ended the 2012 season as the program’s all-time leading scorer and will enter her senior campaign with 49 career points on 16 goals and 17 assists.
“Chastity is a player that has grinded out a lot of assists for our team this year,” said head coach Myranda Sanders. “She has definitely sparked much of our success this season and gave us some dangerous looks in our match versus Texas-Dallas in the opening round of the ASC Tournament. I feel like she will be a key ingredient in the future of the program’s success as she continues to grow as a worker and a leader for our team.”
Carrillo, a behavioral sciences major from El Paso, Texas, is the daughter of Dominique Mota and Raul Carrillo. She has two brothers, Christian and Raul Jr., and two sisters, Romi Mota and Alianna Carrillo.
