Freshman Andrea Mitchell of the women’s track & field team is the 32nd Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2012-13 academic year. She is earning the award for the second time of her career.
Mitchell, who also received the accolade last week, accounted for two of the fastest times among NCAA Division III athletes in the nation at the Texas State Invitational. She clocked in a time of 12.33 seconds in the 100-meter dash, which was a school record and ranked 13th nationally, and anchored the 4x100-meter relay squad that navigated the track in a season-best time of 48.86 seconds. The relay team’s mark ranked 15th in the country through the end of the weekend.
A behavioral sciences major from Cypress, Texas, Mitchell is the daughter of Crystal Jackson. She has one brother, Michael Parker, and three sisters, Nicole Tate, Jewel Mitchell and Treasie Mitchell.
