Concordia University Texas baseball senior Brent Schaekel was named Taco Bell Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Schaekel hit .400 (4-for-10) with a double and scored five runs, including the game-winner in Sunday's series finale, to lead Concordia Texas to a three-game sweep of Southwestern last weekend.
The 6-foot, 180-pound outfielder scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the ninth inning to give the Tornados a 6-5 victory over the Pirates and clinch a series sweep.
Schaekel, who stole four bases during the series, tied the program's all-time mark with his 60th stolen base on Sunday. The career record, which was set by Lance Johnson (1991-94), has stood for nearly 20 years.
