Concordia University Texas baseball sophomore Connor Bertsch has been named the Taco Bell Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Bertsch led Concordia Texas to a three-game sweep of Hardin-Simmons last weekend. The left-handed hitter batted .636 (7-for-11) with two doubles and five RBIs. He also led the team with an .818 slugging percentage and reached base at a .667 clip.
Bertsch, who also was named the American Southwest Conference Co-Hitter of the Week on Monday, collected at least two hits in each of the three games against the Cowboys. The Fayetteville, Texas, native was 3-for-3 with a double and scored twice in the second game of the contest and had two singles with three RBIs in the finale.
Bertsch improved his on-base percentage to .579, which is tops in the ASC, while his .455 batting average is good for third.
