Concordia University Texas softball freshman Hanna Contreras has been named the Taco Bell Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Contreras led Concordia Texas to a three-game sweep of Howard Payne last weekend. The freshman infielder hit .636 (7-for-11) with three doubles, three home runs and 12 RBIs. Contreras racked up 19 total bases, which translated to a 1.727 slugging percentage. The Austin, Texas, native hit a home run in all three games of the series, including a grand slam. In the opening contest, she was 3-for-4 with six RBIs. She finished the weekend with a 3-for-4 performance and five RBIs in the series finale.
Contreras also was named the American Southwest Conference Hitter of the Week on Monday.
