Tayler Jacobs made solid contributions across the board while putting up career numbers in leading the men’s basketball team to a 1-1 week. He averaged 15.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field and 91.7 percent from the free throw line in the two road games.
Jacobs started the week by registering 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one steal in a narrow 85-82 loss to Louisiana College. He set a career high for rebounds and matched his career best for points in the contest. Jacobs also played an important role in the team's 93-86 come-from-behind win over Mississippi College, contributing 12 points, seven assists and four rebounds to propel his team to its first-ever road victory over the Choctaws. With the Tornados trailing by five at the recess, he helped spearhead the comeback by most notably dishing out five of his seven helpers in the second half. The sophomore point guard also made two crucial free throws with 32 seconds left to ice the win.
Tayler, who is leading the American Southwest Conference in assists per game (4.3), is the son of Kevin and Courtney Jacobs and has five siblings. He is a business management major and plans to pursue a coaching career upon graduation from Concordia.
