Freshman Chris Randle of the men's track & field team is the Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the first time this season after registering a national-best mark at the NCAA Division III level in the high jump at the Incarnate Word Invitational on Saturday, March 5.
Randle, who was competing at his first collegiate meet, cleared 6-feet, 4.75-inches on his second attempt to place fifth overall and first among NCAA Division III student-athletes at the non-scoring competition. His mark is a national best by two inches, bettering three other student-athletes from Salisbury and Trinity (Tex.) who have cleared 6-2.75.
Randle was able to post a national-best mark in his premier event despite having a limited amount of time to practice. He is also a member of the men's basketball team which advanced to the ASC Tournament for the fifth straight season at the end of February.
A native of Temple, Randle is the son of Crystal Randle. He has three brothers, Arron (26), Tony (20) and Adrian (19).
