Justin Beasley is Concordia’s Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the first time this year after his clutch hitting helped the baseball team sweep a three-game series against Mary Hardin-Baylor and maintain its second-place position in the ASC West Division.
Beasley, a senior infielder, batted .400 with four hits on two doubles, one triple and one single over the weekend. He also finished with seven RBI and did not strike out or commit an error at second base.
In Friday night’s 6-4 Tornado win that featured four ties and three lead changes, Beasley had an RBI triple that gave his team its first lead in the seventh and later blasted a two-run single in the eighth which would stand as the game-winning hit. He also went 1-for-2 with an RBI double in Saturday’s opener before belting a three-run double in the nightcap. The Tornados won both ends of the twinbill by scores of 7-5 and 9-2.
A kinesiology major from Frankin, Texas, Beasley is the son of Steve and Elaine Beasley. He plans on pursuing a career in physical therapy.
