Justin Beasley is Concordia's Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the second straight week after his timely hitting helped the baseball team sweep a three-game series against Schreiner and take over first place in the ASC West Division standings.
Beasley batted .385 in the series and started the weekend by going 3-for-4 with four RBI in Concordia’s 15-8 win on Friday night. The senior infielder, who also had two hits and three runs scored in the nightcap of a doubleheader sweep against Texas-Brownsville on Tuesday, ended the week by registering an RBI single in the series finale against the Mountaineers to plate the only run in the Tornados’ 1-0 victory. He went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in that final game, which allowed the Tornados to end the week on an eight-game winning streak for the first time since the 2006 season.
Beasley, who is hitting .379 with a team-leading 12 RBI during the team’s winning streak, is a kinesiology major from Frankin, Texas and the son of Steve and Elaine Beasley. He plans on pursuing a career in physical therapy.
