Freshman Chris Randle of the men's track & field team is the last Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2010-11 academic year after garnering All-America laurels at the NCAA Championships on Friday, May 27. Randle, who tied for sixth in the men's high jump, is earning the weekly honor for the fourth time this spring.
Randle, the American Southwest Conference champion, cleared 6-feet, 7-inches on his first attempt at that height to become the second-year program's first All-American in any event. He had entered the meet as the eighth-best performer in the country this season, as he set a school record of 6-9.75 at the Trinity Alumni Classic on Apr. 1. A native of Temple, Randle is the son of Crystal Randle. He has three brothers, Arron (26), Tony (20) and Adrian (19).
