Sophomore midfielder Mohamed Diallo of the men’s soccer team is the sixth Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2011-12 academic year. He is earning the honor for the first time in his career.

Diallo finished the week with seven points on three goals and one assist while matching a single-season school record for points (16). He began the week by netting the first hat trick in program history against East Texas Baptist, scoring his three goals in the 11th, 33rd and 46th minutes of action. He then assisted on Christian Fredrickson's last-second goal that was scored as time expired in the team's 2-1 victory over LeTourneau. It was also Concordia's first-ever victory over LeTourneau after dropping the first nine meetings. Diallo leads the Tornados in all three major scoring categories with six goals and four assists for 16 points this year.

Diallo is also a major reason why the men’s soccer program is off to its best start in program history and in a position to make its first-ever American Southwest Conference postseason tournament appearance. The Tornados, which have never won more than five matches in a season and three in ASC play, are currently 5-4-1 overall and 5-2-1 in league action.

"Mohamed has been a great asset to our program as an attacker and through his ability to liven the atmosphere with his personality," stated first-year head coach Tatenda Chieza.

A business major from Dakar Senegal, Diallo is the son of Kaaba Soumare and Abdoulaye Diallo. He has one brother, Papa Amadou, and one sister, Aicha Diallo.
