Freshman Kendall Williams of the women’s soccer team is the ninth Taco Bell Athlete of the Week for the 2011-12 academic year. She is earning the honor for the first time in her career.

Williams sparked the Tornado offense in a 2-0 win over East Texas Baptist at the American Southwest Conference Tournament by netting both of the goals in the second half. She was named to the ASC Championship All-Tournament Team and finished the season as the team's leading scorer with 30 points on 14 goals and two assists. Her marks for total goals and total points stand as single-season school records.

“Kendall scored two big goals to help lead our program to its first-ever postseason win,” said head coach Corey Holton, whose squad set a school record for wins in a season for the third straight year.

Williams, the fifth women’s soccer player to win the Taco Bell Athlete of the Week award, is a native of Mesquite and intends to major in elementary education. She is the daughter of Anita and Jeoff Williams and has one sister, McKenna.
